myAko – Online Course Promotional Films

The Brief

myAko are an online learning platform and app used my employers to help ensure their staff are kept up to date with necessary training courses and qualifications.

They work with third-party course creators and providers  and had recently partnered with a physiotherapy company to offer course options covering home workstations, injury prevention and manual-handling guidance.

They wanted a suite of 4 films, combining key messages and USPs about the individual courses, the provider and the benefits of their platform. There was a tight budget to work to, but the films needed to be engaging, informative, brief – and potentially replicable for future courses.

The Solution

As with all our projects this began by a ‘deep-dive’ so we could understand not just these products, but the business as a whole. What was heir offering, what differentiates them from their competition and what do clients like best about them. Once we then got into the details of the features of the courses to be profiled, we then had additional company information we could weave in to the messaging.

Working to the budget required, it was agreed early on that the films would need to be a combination of stock footage and on-screen copy to illustrate the key features of the different courses.  With this in mind though, we wanted to ensure the films were engaging for viewers though and so looked at ways we could create a graphical template in After Effects that could form a template going forwards.

We drafted scripts for each film for the on-screen copy that minimised the word-count as much as we could, but retained all key messaging. After back and forth with the client, we then got to work on the first film.

More time was spend ensuring we got the first film exactly as the client wanted, as this would then form the basis for the other films going forwards. Once we got to this point we then progressed on to the others.

On the final versions, we also delivered alternative versions with amended branding on them so that the films could be used by the course creators, as well a the platform providers.

The Outcome

The end product was a suite of 4 high-impact, engaging and informative short films. Each illustrated the benefits of that course, while also reinforcing the credibility and expertise of the course creators, and the features and benefits of the myAko platform.
