What will happen if I try and have a cheap corporate video made for my business?

Tuesday September 20, 2022

There’s no shortage of video production companies out there promising to make a great corporate video on a tight budget. But what happens when you try to go this route?

First, it’s important to understand that video production is a complex process that requires highly-skilled, trained and experienced professionals.

There are many disciplines that go into making high-quality corporate video content, including writing, directing, cinematography, editing, design and more. And that’s before we even get onto the cost of the kit that’s used (the basic kit for an entry-level shoot will cost £20k+ if it is of the right professional standard). This is why video production companies typically charge thousands of pounds for their services. If they’re not, ask yourself where they are saving money in order to be able to do this.

So, what happens if you try to have a video made on the cheap? Well, the final product will likely reflect the low cost of production. The video will likely be poorly written, directed, and edited, and it will probably look amateurish overall as the image quality will not be of a professional standard. In addition, the audio quality will likely be poor, and the video may even contain errors. In short, it will very likely be a total disaster.

So, if you’re thinking about having a corporate video made on a tight budget, think again. Is it worth it? Will you end up with a video that does more harm than good for your business? Could the money be better spent elsewhere?
