Well-produced case studies or testimonials can be a powerful way of building trust in potential buyers. They can see how other people in the same position as them have benefited from using your product or service. They must be authentic and ideally unscripted – although a little guidance on key messages never did any harm!
But how much do case studies and testimonials cost?
In all honesty, every project has a different fee attached as no two briefs are the same. Case studies and testimonials are certainly towards the lower end of the price scale though as they do not generally take too long to film, unless multiple interviews are required.

What increases the cost of case study or testimonial videos?
- Multiple cameras
- Studio/location hire
- Additional kit hire – lighting, tracks, jib etc.
- Specific camera rigs – e.g. filming of vehicles.
- Specific niche experience needed for crew – experience TV commercial directors etc.
- Multiple filming days
- Additional travel time
- Setting up of multiple interviews in different locations
- Drone filming – we only use experienced drone cameramen, not simply drone operators.
- Additional crew – the more people there are, the quicker it can be to set up. This is useful if – for example – you are filming at an expensive location with limited time there.
- Set design and props
- Using commercial music tracks.
- Having to work around restricted access at a location.
- More complex animation, graphics or 3D motion graphics.
- Uncertain brief
- More amendments.
- More actors or models.
- Different clothing options for actors/models.
- Need to record voiceover in a studio after recording.
- Use of commercial music tracks.
What decreases the cost of case study or testimonial videos?
- Single filming location
- Single interview
- Producing multiple case studies will bring the cost per film down significantly, especially if all can be filmed at the same location.
- No fee locations
- Unrestricted location access.
- No animation
- Very specific brief
- Less amendments.
- The more case study or testimonial videos you commission, the cheaper the cost per film is likely to be.
